Losing
someone we care about is one of the most traumatic life experiences.
We all react in different ways, and there are no rights or
wrongs, but it can be very difficult to cope with everyday
life when we are grieving. Our feelings at this time may be
the most painful we ever experience. We may feel: numbness,
disbelief, yearning, sadness, anger, guilt, fear, shame, loneliness,
apathy, depression.
It may not be a person we have lost, but a pet, or a situation
that has changed - moving, jobs, relationships, etc. The feelings
of bereavement can still be very strong.
Feelings affect our bodies as well as our minds, and some
physical symptoms of grief that may affect you are: exhaustion,
sleeplessness, loss of appetite, irritability, restlessness,
not being able to concentrate, aches and pains, shaking, sickness,
and others.
You may experience any of these feelings as part of the grieving
process - and it may be confusing how fast your feelings change.
It is important to look after yourself and to find someone
to talk to, and some way of expressing your feelings. Check
